Marine Environmental Protection
Marine Environmental Protection (MAREP) functions to help accomplish the mission of the PCG in protecting and preserving the marine environment and its resources. The PCGA for 2014 – 2016 has lined up five (5) priority projects for MAREP under the Coastal Greenbelt Corridor Program:
- Mangrove-Beach Forests Rehabilitation
- Monthly Coastal / Waterways Cleanup
- Community-based Emergency Oil Spill Response
- Deployment of Mooring Buoys in Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) and Critical Ecosystems (Mangroves, Coral reefs and beaches of popular tourist destination)
- Reef Assessment, Monitoring and Enhancement of Areas for Rehabilitation through Fragmentation and Translocation of suitable coral species
