The Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary in particular, the CGADNCR-CL and CGADEV was on full alert during Pope Francis' visit to the country last January 15-19, 2015. In coordination with the PCG, VADM Joseph N Dy PCGA, National Director and RADM Valentin B Prieto Jr PCGA, Deputy National Director for Operations and Auxiliary Director CGADNCR-CL created a Task Force to help secure the maritime area along Manila Bay fronting Quirino Grandstand, Mall of Asia and Tacloban City in Leyte. PCGA water, land and communication assets were on-standby to assist PCG during security and monitoring operations.
In recognition of its services, dedication and adherence to the mission of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary (PCGA), the 125th Squadron has recently been adjudged as the Best Auxiliary Squadron of the Year of the Coast Guard District NCR-Central Luzon (CGDNCR-CL)
The "Araw ng Pasasalamat" held last December 12 during its anniversary celebration at the Headquarters, Coast Guard Ready Force (HCGRF), was dedicated to showing CGDNCR-CL's appreciation to the support rendered by its officers, personnel, partners and Auxiliarists. The 125th Squadron was likewise congratulated for the ever increasing number of its projects and activities relevant to the mission of the PCG and PCGA in its area of responsibility in Cavite. It was also lauded for complying with the District Commander's tasking of putting up and maintaining a website. Meanwhile, Coast Guard Station (CGS) Cavite, the partner Station of 125th Squadron, was also adjudged as the "Best Class-C Station of the Year" as led by its immediate past commander LCDR FIDELES D SALLIDAO PCG and its concurrent commander CDR RAUL J BELESARIO PCG. The event has also seen the Turn-Over of Command ceremonies for the new Commander of CGDNCR-CL, COMMO JOEL S GARCIA PCG, as presided by PCG Acting Commandant RADM WILLIAM M MELAD PCG. The 125th Auxiliary Squadron receives warm appreciation and recognition from the Philippine Air Force's 15th Strike Wing and the Alpha Phi Omega-PEZA Cavite for its contributions and services rendered during the groups' respective activities.
The PAF's 15th Strike Wind hosted a Medical and Dental Civic Action Program last October 18 in Sangley Point, Cavite City with the theme "Mahusay na Lingkod-Bayan, Pwersang Pinatatag ng Kasaysayan, Ipinaglalaban ang Kalayaan". This Squadron's participation at the said project, together with its partner Cavite Dental Association, earned the commendations of BGEN GALILEO GERARD R KINTANAR JR AFP, wing commander of the said unit. Another certificate was awarded to this Squadron by Ms. Nida Blesilda A. Ramos, president of APO PEZA Cavite for its participation in the mangrove planting activity held at Brgy. 11, Sta. Cruz, Cavite City last October 25. When the faithful goes to sea, a safe and secure boating experience is ensured by the Coast Guard and its Auxiliary.
Case in point is the 84 devotees onboard 40 vessels, who took to sea in celebration of the annual feast of La Virgen dela Soledad de Porta Vaga in Cavite City last 08 November, Saturday. The parade was considered a success as no untoward incidents were reported and devotees were able to peacefully exhibit their adoration to their patron saint. Making this possible is the joint efforts of Coast Guard Station (CGS) Cavite and its partner 125th Auxiliary Squadron who ensured that only those who are listed in the manifesto are allowed to board the vessels. Squadron officers have also provided life jackets to the devotees who boarded the mother boat F/Bca Dexwinson where the patron saint was transported. Working alongside their Coast Guard partners, the Squadron officers conducted crowd control at shore and maritime safety by making sure that the boats are safely distanced from each other. The residents and fishermen along the coastal village of Barangay Julugan 4 in Tanza, Cavite were brought up to date with the recent marine environmental protection this morning, November 07.
The joint team of Coast Guard Station (CGS) Cavite and 125th Squadron have conducted an information drive to about 20 fishermen, barangay officials and residents of the said barangay on the proactive way of protecting the marine environment and the coastal areas. CPO Edliberto Alano PCG opened the information drive while SN1 Glenn John Mayo PCG discussed Waste Management and Recycling. Meanwhile, CDR NOEMI S ALVARAN PCGA tackled the proactive ways of protecting the marine environment in a local level. The info drive earned positive feed backs from the residents and some fishermen were able to air their concerns regarding the illegal and over-fishing of some commercial vessels who are unauthorized to do fishing activities in their shoreline. Among the issues raised were trawling and dynamite fishing using advanced explosive. Accordingly, this illegal method of fishing leaves the small fishermen with nothing more to catch. The Coast Guard personnel advised the fishermen to put the concerns in writing so it may be submitted to the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) which oversees this sort of activities. Sea travel was made more secure, safe and organized for passengers as the Department of Transportation and Communications (DoTC), Philippine Ports Authority (PPA), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary (PCGA) conducted its yearly Passenger Assistance Center (PAC) in time for the All Souls and All Saints Day.
Dubbed Oplan Undas 2014, the activity gathered hundreds of PAC operatives from various groups to secure and organize the major piers in the country where an influx of sea-going passengers are expected to arrive. Under the leadership of CGADNCR-CL District Director RADM VALENTIN B PRIETO JR PCGA, all 16 Squadrons of the said district were deployed in various ports in Manila such as the North Harbor and CCP Bay Terminal to ensure the safety and orderliness of the passengers arriving and departing. Despite having no pier in its area of responsibility in Cavite, the 125th Squadron pursued with its public service by joining the PAC in CCP Complex, Pasay where MV Sun Cruises docks for loading and unloading of passengers bound for Corregidor, Bataan. Along with the personnel from the PCG, PNP Maritime Police, 101st Squadron and 130th Squadron, the group assisted a total of 165 passengers in safely boarding the craft and ensuring that their baggage are free of prohibited cargoes such as flammables, explosives, noxious substances, sharp objects and arms. Adhering to the focal mission of VADM Joseph DY PCGA, national director of the PCG Auxiliary, the 125th Squadron actively promoted and maintained the cleanliness of the marine environment through various activities held this October.
Last October 4, this Squadron joined its partner Coast Guard Station (CGS) Cavite in a mangrove planting activity in Isla Bonita and Brgy Ligton 2 in Rosario, Cavite. Upon low-tide, the Squadron, together with the 103rd and 129th Squadrons, AIMS, PNP-Rosario, Cavite Dental Chapter, Petron and Cavite LGU were taught on the proper planting of propagules. A total of 2,000 mangrove propagules were successfully planted by the team until 0930H. On October 25, a coastal clean-up activity was hosted by the Alpha Phi Omega fraternity at Barangay Lawin, Cavite City. This was participated by 125th Squadron and CGS Cavite. The Auxiliary Squadrons operating in the jurisdiction of Coast Guard Station (CGS) Cavite have joined the Philippine Coast Guard in its Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing and blessing of its new light house in Brgy. Bancaan, Naic, Cavite.
The Municipality of Naic, through Mayor Jun Dualan, donated a 100 square meter parcel of land where a PCG lighthouse was erected. The MOA was signed by Mayor Dualan and RADM CECIL R CHEN PCG, Coast Guard Vice Commandant for Administration and Commander of Coast Guard District NCR-Central Luzon (CGDNCR-CL). The newly built lighthouse was blessed on the same day and was witnessed by the residents and officials of Barangay Bancaan, the staff of Municipality of Naic and officers of the CGDNCR-CL, CGS Cavite, and the 103rd, 125th and 129th Auxiliary Squadron. A total of 1,170 residents of four barangays in Sangley Point, Cavite have benefited from the medical-dental mission hosted by the 15th Strike Wing of the Philippine Air Force in time for its 41st Founding Anniversary.
The event was successfully held at the Strike Wing Fitness Center of the Maj. Danilo Atienza Air Base with seven doctors from the Philippine Dental Association and members of the 125th Auxiliary Squadron and Coast Guard Station Cavite. It was also attended by personnel from the Philippine Army, Philippine Navy, Philippine Air Force, Armed Forces Reserve Command, Cavite City Council, Lion's Club, Brgy 53-A Yakal Cavite Council, Sangley Air Base Officers Ladies Club and the Sangley Air Base Enlisted Ladies Club. With more than a thousand patients, the participating units have jointly rendered crowd control and assistance for people standing on queue for consultation.
